Dacc was one of the first people I met in chat. She was a host in MSN Newbies when they still supported comic chat. She wasn’t so good at answering the technical questions the newbies always had, but she’d welcome anyone new into the room. She had the most patience of any host in teaching people the nuances of comic chat. She was slow to kick, but once you were kicked, if you came back and behaved, it was as if she’d never booted you at all. Even when she wasn’t gaveled, she’d come in and brighten up the room. There wasn’t anyone on chat who didn’t like her. I knew her online for years before I ever met her IRL. She’s the only person from comic chat I ever met in person. Her great white Creole house in New Iberia has warm oak floors, white gingerbread on the front porch, and a patio out back underneath a live oak dripping with Spanish moss. We visited a casino in Lafayette where we talked about the folks from chat. I’d mention someone who got on my nerves and she’d counter with a story about them that changed my opinion of them. The chatters were like family to her—she’d talk about them like they lived right around the corner. After dinner she sat in on a few hands of blackjack. She won about $20 and you’d have thought she’d broken the bank. She came to visit me on the island and we sat on the beach, drinking Coronas and looking out toward Mexico. She mentioned opening a restaurant, but hadn’t really thought it through. A few months later she ICQed me from Tennessee and asked what first steps she should take in opening a restaurant—she’d made the jump. She was going to open a Cajun place. You don’t own restaurants—they own you. We communicated less and less often as her place got busier and busier. And then it all stopped. Her cousin Kit emailed me that she’d been killed. Some guy with a bad brain wanted her SUV. I should say I forgive the guy. I should say no one deserved to die like Kacki. But that’s wrong. The guy with the bad brain deserves to die just the way she did, and then we should save his life. And kill him again. So he knows what he destroyed. I miss you, Kacki.

DACC was the life of the party. She lit up any chat room that she entered with her wit and style. She was a host extradonaire in newbies on msn. She could diffuse any situation with her charm and intellect. She was a ray of light. She was a friend to all and welcoming to the most irritating of newbies. Her knack of interjecting humour into any situation made her unique. BBear and i had a standing invitation to go visit her. That would have been some ladies night!!!

Laisser les bon temp rouler cher DACC!

I didn't know Dacc very well, but I remember meeting her, and talking with her in the old Newbies room on MSN.. Such a sweet, kind, caring, and funny lady.. She was a wonderful host, always helpful, and definately popular... No one wore Rebecca quite like Dacc, she was a true southern belle... This world has lost a wonderful lady... and Heavens gained an angel... To Kathleens family and friends I send my prayers...

"Dear sweet Dacc...I've known you for over 7 years honey. You and I worked side by side for Greg on Annex and on MSN in Newbies. Your sense of humor was contagious. Your heart was as large as the internet. I won't forget you, Dacc."

I grew to love Dacc, she was very nice and we became close many years ago. I even was invited to her home to meet her. I will miss her, since I was already missing her, I have asked people if anyone has heard from her. And I pray for her now, she is in Heaven with God. I will see her and all my departed loved ones in the time when I too will pass on. I attend a nice Christian church, I also sing in the choir, this Sunday I will say a prayer for Dacc in church. May God bless Dacc always and may He bless everyone else as well.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dacc, i didn't know her very well, although she was the one who started people calling me beanzy. I found this poem that i thought was quite fitting, i hope you all like it as much as i do.

The Broken Cord
We little knew that morning that God
Was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone;
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
Your friendship is still our guide;
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our friendship chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us, one by one,
The Chain will link again.

I met Dacc in #Newbies back when MSN was still hosting Comic Chat, back in the black and white days. I have met many amazing individuals in comic chat and one of them was Dacc. She was sweet, intelligent and very funny person - well like by all. She will surely be missed by all.

Dacc owned a restaurant, in Gatlinburg, Tenn, and was murdered there last July 21st. According to the news reports she had hired a man in mid-July to help in her restaurant as a cook and to work as handyman around the house and had also allowed him to live on the premises. They had gone out to purchase supplies for the restaurant that evening, but he and her car disappeared . The following day two of her children; age 17 and 20 found her dead . The motive is unclear at present . Statements made by his mother and his ex-wife during investigation found that the guy might be mentally ill, but the report I read did not mention any prior police record. Investigators discovered after the murder he had called his mother and said something about "killing a bunch of people," He is also said to have called his ex-wife and told her that "he had cut up his boss." He has been arrested now, in Minnesota, and the car located, abandoned, in a mall there.

She was only 46 and is survived by her four kids, whose first initials made up her online nick... dacc . Although I did not know her myself, I understand

she had been a host for the Internet Center on MSN under Hoover Chan and Greg Gooden and was enormously popular. She was a compassionate teacher, mentor, and friend to all. Dacc is primarily remembered for being the "champion of the underdog," a natural leader, she was fun to be around, and had a great sense of humor!

She loved comic chat and used the Rebecca avatar.
